Reporting to the Financial Controller, the manager of financial accounting will be responsible for completing the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close cycle. This role will also support the project accounting (revenue) function and assist with preparation of government funding program claims.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for completion of month end financial close cycle and preparation of timely monthly management reports and dashboard information;
  • Managing project accounting function. This includes project set up, month end forecasting reviews, cost analysis, preparation of monthly financial reports, timesheet management, etc.
  • Management of Accounts Receivable function. Responsible for creating invoices and monitoring outstanding invoices.
  • Research and analysis of technical accounting issues in accordance with IFRS;
  • Responsible for completing month end account reconciliations.
  • Preparation of quarterly financial statements and other continuous disclosure documents in accordance with IFRS
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining Forecasting and Pricing Summary documents.
  • Providing support to operations management to ensure timely and accurate financial information is delivered to the management team.
  • Providing support to project managers. This includes Kantata reporting, financial reports, bid costing analysis and support, invoicing, other Ad Hoc requests.
  • Providing support to sales team as needed.
  • Heavily involved in the year end audit process.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly reports for Government Funding Programs.
  • Assist with developing proposals and submissions for new funding programs including HR and business development funding programs;
  • Other Ad Hoc reports and requests.
  • The Company may reasonably expand or limit such duties, responsibilities and authority.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • Business degree in finance or accounting, and a CPA designation. Applicants with other combinations of relevant training and experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with professional accounting firm considered an asset
  • Strong technical accounting skills and exposure to International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS")
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task, analyze and problem solve complex issues.
  • Experience in percentage complete revenue recognition an asset.
  • Experience with government funding programs such as SR&ED and NRC-IRAP an asset;
  • Excellent computer skills with experience of advanced Excel techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal, planning, coordinating, organizing, time management, and oral & written communication skills.
  • Must be able to obtain Government of Canada security clearance.
  • Ability to work independently and as an active team member.
