Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Career & Experiential Learning, the Manager will focus on the management of the Experiential Learning staff and the effective leadership of the Work Integrated Learning/Cooperative Education Unit within the Career & Experiential Learning Department (CEL). The Manager is responsible for managing and leading the continued development and implementation of experiential learning (EL) and work integrated learning (WIL) activities across the schools' undergraduate and graduate programs (excluding Sobey School). The Manager will play a critical role in increasing student Co-op participation throughout all faculties, new program development, such as EL and WIL components. The Manager will provide leadership to the Co-op, Co-Curricular Record (CCR) and Service Learning staff, university faculty and staff, as well as others within the University in promoting EL and WIL opportunities and in establishing relationships with employers and community agencies, locally, regionally and nationally. The Manager will be required to work collaboratively with the wider Career & Experiential Learning and Student Affairs & Services team, and campus community delivering innovative student engagement strategies in the areas of EL and WIL, employability, voluntarism, and overall student experience.

Qualifications

To be the successful Manager, Experiential Learning you will possess an Undergraduate degree, a Master's degree is preferred, and a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of directly related work experience. Postsecondary experience preferred. Other requirements include:

  • Supervisory experience; in a unionized environment would be an asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level with MS Office (especially Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills: able to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and negotiate changes in priorities as required.
  • Strong presentation skills, the proven ability to be persuasive and to effect positive change while building strong relationships.
  • Collaborative, positive, and professional approach to working with teams and colleagues.
  • Ability to research, process, organize and present information interestingly and convincingly.
  • Experience with assessment and evaluation required.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments and deliver by the appropriate deadlines.
  • Understanding of academic and administrative structures.
  • Demonstrates intercultural awareness and a commitment to principles of equity and inclusion.
