What you'll do
Responsibilities
- Work with fellow employees and Management to promote a positive atmosphere for residents, their families and visitors
- Work with residents' family members and other healthcare providers to develop care plans
- Encourage and assist in maintaining the autonomy of residents whenever possible
- Maintain accurate documentation and charting for residents' files, incident reports etc.
- Administer client medications according to care plan and document accordingly
- Act as a resource, role model and supervisor of other staff while on duty
- Procedure and policy administration
- Orientation of new nursing staff
- Process physician orders and ensure they're sent to the pharmacy in a timely manner
- Maintain confidentiality concerning residents, staff and organizational information
What you'll need
Qualifications
- Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
- Minimum 2 years experience in Long Term Care setting or Home Care
- Strong leadership and excellent nursing assessment skills
- Current standard First Aid and CPR certification
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English
- Respectful, hard working and compassionate above all else
- Dependable and reliable with a good attendance record
- Proof of COVID 19 vaccination
- Graduate of an approved school of Practical Nursing
- Palliative Care course an asset
- Knowledge in Point Click Care electronic charting is an asset
- PIECES Trained preferred
- Reliable commute to 89 NORTH ST, Middleton, NS
COVID-19 considerations:
Must have primary series of COVID vaccination
Licence/Certification:
- CPR Certification (preferred)
- NS LPN/RPN license (required)
