The Library at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Library Technician.

About the Opportunity
The primary responsibilities of this position include providing services to library patrons at the Access Services Desk; carrying out all circulation functions in Novanet's Alma system; as well as duties related to Reserves, Document Delivery, and occasional Cataloguing or Archives projects. Reserves-related duties include locating and ordering materials for use in academic courses; adding hyperlinks and documents to Moodle; adding optical character recognition (OCR) to digitized documents; creating and modifying MARC records; and liaising with faculty members. Other tasks include supporting student assistants; care and control of the Library's audio-visual equipment and mobile devices; stack maintenance; inventory; creating student ID cards; and handling material exchanged with other Novanet libraries. Library Technicians may also carry out additional duties such as assisting with research help, library tours; preparing instructional material; and organizing displays as required. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Library Operations.

About You
This position requires a Library Technician Diploma and a minimum of 18 months of previous work experience in a library, preferably in an academic environment. A university degree will be considered an asset. Candidates must be comfortable handling cash, receipts and creating spreadsheets. Assets include knowledge of Microsoft Excel; Adobe Acrobat Pro (or other scanning/OCR applications); proficient use of scholarly databases; and experience with digitization. The Mount is committed to exceptional customer service and this position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students. The Mount Library is a busy, fast-paced environment and the incumbent must be flexible and have the ability to switch tasks quickly and easily. Good technical skills and experience with an automated Library system (preferably ExLibris Alma) are essential. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, and have an aptitude for, or previous experience, using business enterprise systems such as Colleague, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.

Classification: NSGEU Level 6
Starting Salary: $22.65 per hour, 31.67-hour week
