What you'll do

Responsibilities

Collaborating with and reporting to the Provincial Library Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing a variety of services to users of the Library at the Miramichi campus. You will provide user support and assistance for library resources, troubleshoot and escalate any concerns with finding resources as well as assist with reporting and data analysis. You will work under the guidance of the Provincial Library Coordinator and the Library Commons.

Responsibilities include:

  • Determining information needs and handling inquiries from a variety of patrons (e.g., students, faculty, staff) with varying levels of knowledge.
  • Performing a number of library resource tasks, including serials processing and subscription record maintenance, cataloguing and e-resources record processing.
  • Assisting students and staff in the use of appropriate library resources and services.
  • Understanding the basic principles Copyright.
  • Facilitating onsite class orientation of library services and supports.
  • Processing of student and staff IDs.
  • Liaising with the instructors and the assigned Library Learning Commons Coordinators to provide guidance and information on available resources.
  • Assisting with the development of self-help guides and aids for students in using the library's website and resources.
  • Participating and assisting with Student Development projects as required.
  • Supporting Accessibility Services with scheduling of Accommodated Testing, invigilation and providing administrative supports to Tutoring, the Technology Loan program and other services.
  • Assisting with providing reports on the service unit statistics.
  • Providing administrative support to the Provincial Library Coordinator and the Library Commons

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma plus a one-year post-secondary program in a related field, and a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience or High School Diploma plus a two (2) year Diploma in a related field and (2) years of related experience.
  • Experience with library resources and websites.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic copyright rules.
  • Demonstrated experience in the features and functionality of the Library Commons technology, including eResources.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Experience searching and using library databases and electronic resources and an aptitude for using a variety of software programs, and familiarity with computerized library systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with good client service.
  • Demonstrated experience in a library setting within a Post-Secondary Environment would be considered an asset.
  • A valid New Brunswick driver's license.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with D2L and LibGuides experience.

This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NBUPPE- Administrative and Program Support Services collective agreement for the College.
