Reporting to Director, Opportunity and Belonging and working collaboratively with the OCAD U Lead, Mindful Campus, the Lead, Mindful Campus is responsible for coordinating the execution of the Mindful Campus Initiative at NSCAD University. The Mindful Campus Initiative (MCI)-led by OCAD University-is an essential response to the mental health impact of the pandemic on post-secondary students. Implemented by a collaborative pan-Canadian network of post-secondary art and design schools and faculties-and in partnership with the Centre for Mindfulness Studies-MCI will lift the mental health and well-being of Canada's post-secondary students, through a coherent set of prevention and promotion programs. The Lead, Mindful Campus will support NSCAD's institutional aim of building a strong, cohesive, and supportive community through the MCI program This position will support the successful execution of the grant and the implementation of mindfulness across NSCAD University.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate delivery of the Mindful Campus Initiative at NSCAD, including in-person and online delivery of Mindful for Resilience Program, Everyday Mindfulness, train-the-trainer and digital engagement including maintaining program calendar and animating program delivery space
  • Collaborate with OCAD U in developing and providing creative assets from NSCAD student engagement with MCI.
  • Support broader awareness of MCI across NSCAD.
  • Participate in the project's national Community of Practice, coordination of NSCAD stakeholders who may also participate.
  • Coordinate NSCAD student engagement. Working with student bodies to recruit, engage, and oversee 3 - 5 peer support students for MCI peer leadership.
  • Execute MCI program deliverables as defined by NSCAD, such as coordinating yoga classes and overseeing a student engagement creative project related to MCI.
  • Support integration of trauma-informed approach and inclusion of BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ students.
  • Coordinate program evaluation at NSCAD and provide complete evaluation metrics to OCAD University.
  • Support the MCI Project Manager in successfully executing funding deliverables.
  • Provide OCAD U with reporting and grant administrative requirements.

What you'll need

Qualifications

University degree required, or equivalent, with a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience. Demonstrated experience interpreting complex government and institutional policies and procedures as they relate to the implementation of the Mindful Campus Initiative. Experience working with grant funding and bringing ideas to fruition. Understanding of the current industry trends and needs of students managing their mental health. Experience and training with mindfulness or a personal mindfulness practice considered an asset. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven aptitude for detail and accuracy is essential. Ability to manage concurrent deliverables involving shifting deadlines and priorities. Ability to work independently and as a team in a busy and varied work environment. High degree of planning and organizational skills required to balance competing priorities and deadlines. Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity and proven ability to deal effectively with a diverse population.
