We are now inviting applications for the position IT Systems Administrator.

We are looking for an IT generalist who can help Events East Group continue to deliver top quality events and guest experiences to our clients. This individual should have a background in a large variety of IT technologies to help meet the ever-changing technology demands of the corporate and event landscape.

ROLE DESCRIPTION: 
Reporting to the Director, Finance & Corporate IT, the IT Systems Administrator will be accountable for the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems for Events East Group, including Halifax Convention Centre and Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic. The IT Systems Administrator will help to ensure that all IT deliverables are performed in a timely and efficient manner and that staff have the tools they require to perform their daily tasks. This position also works closely with the event technology group and will need to support event operations as required.

REQUIREMENTS
As a successful IT Systems Administrator, you should possess many of the following skills, education, and qualifications:

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • The desire to provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients
  • The ability to work outside of normal hours as event activity and maintenance schedules demand
  • Experience using ticketing or incident management systems for prioritizing and documenting IT requests

Education & Experience

  • Graduate of a recognized information technology program
  • Possess 3-5 years of relevant industry experience
  • Possess relevant industry certifications (eg. Comptia, Microsoft, Cisco or ITIL)

Job Specific/Technical Knowledge

  • Networking skills, including layer 2/3 switching/routing and firewall configuration (Cisco preferred) and wifi
  • Windows server administration
  • VMWare administration
  • End user client support for desktop/notebook and printing
  • Management and administration of email and collaboration tools (Office 365)
  • Cisco UC VoIP administration
  • SQL administration and/or experience supporting Microsoft Dynamics GP

Events East

We manage and operate the Halifax Convention Centre, Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic. Created as part of a government partnership between the Province of Nova Scotia and Halifax Regional Municipality, we work in collaboration with them to manage our business in a responsible and transparent manner.

We were established in 2014 through legislation to operate, maintain and manage the activities of the Halifax Convention Centre in a manner that will promote and develop economic development, tourism and industry in the Province generally, and the Municipality.

Effective April 1, 2017, our mandate expanded to include the continued management and operations of Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic, formerly under Trade Centre Limited (TCL).
