Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure Services, and as a member of the Information Solutions team, you will be responsible for the operational support of corporate security systems, implementation and monitoring of Departmental Security policies, standards, and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to working closely with the Manager of Infrastructure Services and the team to identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities and remediation needs, threat risk assessments and penetration testing. Work on maintaining an ISO27001 Standards based Information Security Management System (ISMS), by testing and applying various technical and administrative controls to ensure compliance with various frameworks, including but not limited to PCI-DSS, PIPEDA and ISO27001. The IT Security Analyst is also responsible for daily maintenance and coordination related to network and server intrusion prevention, monitoring of security controls, reviewing security logs and monitoring systems for anomalies, and cybersecurity trends. The individual will help plan, configure, design, develop, implement and maintain tools, systems and procedures to ensure the integrity, reliability and security of the college's data, systems and networks. Assist with security compliance audits, security alerts and incidents from identification through to mitigation/resolution.

The successful incumbent will demonstrate knowledge of Information Systems Security, Knowledge of Auditing (e.g. Information Systems Security Processes and Controls), Knowledge of Research Methodologies, Principles and Practices, Written Communication and Presentation Skills.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity: a Diploma from a two-year Information Technology discipline and seven (7) years of recent and related experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an Information Technology discipline with five (5) years of recent and related experience. A working knowledge of information systems security and the ability to apply this knowledge is required. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Experience working in a related role in a post-secondary environment may be considered an asset.

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one of more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Certification(s) in Cybersecurity (e.g. Associate of ISC2, CEH, ISO);
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP);
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Certifications in Technology and/or Security (e.g. CompTIA, VMware, Microsoft and Cisco)

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $1,890 - $2,634 bi-weekly ($49,140 - $68,484 annually). This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees (Information Technology ) collective agreement for the College.
