WorkSafeNB is seeking an IT Help Desk Operator. Reporting to the Manager, Support Services, you will provide a single point of contact for WorkSafeNB's user community for reporting problems or making technology related enquiries. You will initiate and monitor purchasing processes and assist with tracking and inventory control through the recording of information related to purchased computers, peripherals, and licenses. This position can be located anywhere in the province of New Brunswick.

Your key areas of responsibility include:

· Providing first line of support for the user community and escalating when necessary to the appropriate information technology staff members. This may involve initial problem identification, assigning problem priorities as well as expected completion dates. You will also ensure all Information Technology Help Desk interactions are logged.

· Tracking the progress of problems that have been assigned to IT staff and keeping the user updated on the status of the resolution to the problem. You will also document resolutions for future reference and inform direct supervisor of outstanding items. This will involve identifying and escalating situations requiring urgent attention.

· Coordinating all IT-related ordering with the Purchasing department, ensuring information required for purchasing is complete and information required for tracking is collected and recorded.

· Recording and tracking all software licenses to facilitate reporting for license compliance and usage.

You, as a successful candidate, possess:

· Must have completed a one-year program in technology studies.

· Must have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft products such as Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Access. You also must have two years of relevant work experience in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues with Microsoft Office products.

· Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.

Written and spoken competency in English is required.

Working evening or weekend hours, to fulfill business needs, may be required.

Travel to our Saint John office, to fulfill business needs, may be required.

Pay Scale $ $46,300.41 to $54,853.09. You will start with a base pay of $46,300.41 (Step 1) of the pay band for the position appointment.

WorkSafeNB

Organization

WorkSafeNB administers no-fault workplace accident and disability insurance for employers and their workers, funded solely through assessments on employers. All employers having three or more workers are obligated to obtain compensation coverage.

WorkSafeNB is committed to preventing workplace injuries and illness through education and enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

WorkSafeNB is administered by a board of directors consisting of the chairperson, a vice-chairperson, the president and CEO (non-voting member), the chairperson of the Appeals Tribunal (non-voting member), five members representing workers, and five members representing employers. Other than the president & CEO and the chairperson of the Appeals Tribunal, members of the board of directors serve part-time.

WorkSafeNB's mandate is to:

  • Promote the creation of a workplace safety culture in which all employees and employers view all occupational diseases and accidents as being preventable.
  • Promote an understanding, acceptance, and compliance with all legislation for which WorkSafeNB is responsible, including the enforcement of the OHS Act and regulations.
  • Provide timely compensation benefits, medical aid, rehabilitation, and safe return-to-work services to injured workers.
  • Provide sustainable insurance and insurance-related services to the employer community.
  • Represent stakeholders and provide recommendations and advice to government with respect to legislation, and publish such reports, studies, and recommendations WorkSafeNB considers advisable.

Assessments are affected by the level of activities in the province's workplaces, as are the resulting claims. There are also substantial assets that ensure WorkSafeNB will be able to provide the ongoing benefits promised to injured workers through a wage loss recovery insurance system. These funds are invested in the financial markets and investment returns are subject to the ups and downs of the marketplace.
