Position Summary

The Intermediate Cash Accountant is responsible for performing reconciliations of all cash general ledger accounts each period, and is instrumental in leading the initiative to recognize, bring awareness to and resolve any issues regarding cash loss prevention. The role involves communication and follow-up with Operational managers on a regular basis.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cash reconciliations for all stores each period
  • Maintaining and posting all aggregators.
  • Prepare GL account reconciliations
  • Maintain all matching rules in Blackline that are used for the cash reconciliations
  • Ensure cash controls and processes are followed
  • Prepare notes on cash overages & shortages for each period end, for all stores over the allowed threshold
  • Prepare working papers for year-end related to cash reconciliations
  • Work with other roles in Finance and Operations to improve the cash flow cycle, from receipt of deposits at store level to the recording of deposits in Sage to the review and resolution of cash overages & shortages
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by Treasury Manager

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in accounting is preferred but will also consider a combination of education plus relevant accounting experience
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, and the cash flow cycle
  • Great at problem solving, with an ability to think outside the box
  • Good communication skills
  • Enjoys a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Strong knowledge and capabilities in spreadsheets
