Acadia seeks an Intake Coordinator/Case Manager in our Counselling Centre to support the psychological and mental health and wellness needs of Acadia University students. In this crucial position within the Student Services Unit, the Intake Coordinator/Case Manager will facilitate first appointments with students to assess needs and collaboratively create a plan with the student. This may require connecting students to campus and community resources, discussing options for therapy, and case manage students at risk or with complex mental health needs.

This role serves as the escalation point for the Counselling Centre and at times will need to make quick decisions in high-risk situations. The Intake Coordinator/Case Manager will also have some direct personal counselling with students.

In this role, you'll be joining a growing team in Student Services who respect and celebrate the diversity of Acadia's student population. The Counselling Centre provides programs and services that are anti-oppressive, culturally responsive, accessible, and adaptive. Our team works to promote student mental health in equitable and trauma-informed ways, and actively seek opportunities to promote inclusion and diverse representation.

You will work collaboratively with the Counselling Centre team in the coordination of health and wellness plans that best support students and enhance academic success. You will also build strong relationships with other campus partners, our students, faculty, and staff.

• We are seeking candidates who have a Master's degree in Counselling, Social Work, or Psychology with experience in the following areas:

  • working in a Mental Health Post-Secondary setting
  • working in a culturally diverse environment
  • health and wellness program development

• Applicants must be currently registered, or in the process of being registered, with provincial and/or national regulatory bodies (including acquiring continuing education credits to maintain registration).

• The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work in a fast -paced environment, take direction, and to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues and other departments on campus.

• Excellent interpersonal, time management, and communication skills are required for this position.

• Ability to exercise initiative, tact, discretion, problem-solving skills and to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
