NBCC is currently seeking a dynamic and competent leader for the position of Casual Instructor, Machinist. Our College is committed to transforming lives and communities. This is a casual position from January 2022 to April 2022.

Responsibilities

What you will be working on:

You will be collaborating with the Academic Chair of Metals Processing. As a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program will include related subjects in the full scope of the trades (but not limited to):

  • Safety
  • Trade-related Math and Physics
  • Welding
  • Rigging
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Lathe Operations
  • Milling Machine Operations
  • Other trade-related subjects as required

The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • A high school diploma, or equivalency
  • A valid Machinist Red Seal license
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of three (3) years of related, recent work experience at the Journeyperson's level.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post-secondary environment in a blended delivery and/or candidates who possess a Red Seal in Industrial Mechanics.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NBUPPE - Education (Instructional) collective agreement for the College.
