What you'll do
Reporting to the Department Head, as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for ensuring planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.
Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include, but are not limited to: mathematics including calculus, physics, drafting, strength of materials, materials technology, and other related subjects as required. The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices. You will also plan, evaluate and monitor student practicum placements.
What you'll need
Required qualifications for this opportunity include a diploma in civil or building engineering technology and a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related industry experience; OR a bachelor of science in civil engineering with a minimum of three (3) years of recent and related industry experience. Related experience must include a variety of civil or building engineering related work. Knowledge of mathematics including calculus, physics, structural analysis, and drafting and materials technology would be strong assets. Candidates must be competent in the use of MS Office Suite.
Candidates must be registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET); a Professional Technologist (PTech), or a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.). Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.
Written and spoken competence in English is required.
Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in post-secondary education, surveying, CAD drafting tools including AutoCAD and REVIT as well as civil engineering lab testing.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $1,973 to $2,780 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $3,036 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees collective agreement (Education, Instructional Group) for the College.
