NBCC is seeking a dynamic and competent leader for the position of Community College Instructor in the Truck and Transport Program. Our College is committed to transforming lives and communities. Position Type: Term (Part-time) up to 18.125 hours/week

Duration: September 2024 to June 2025

Salary Range: $33.85 to $52.08 per hour. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $43.68 per hour, based on their level of post-secondary education.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Collaborating with and reporting to the Academic Chair of Industrial Mobile Equipment Repair and as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program will include the full scope of this trade which may include but are not limited to:

  • Engines
  • Transmissions
  • Drive Trains
  • Hydraulics
  • Breaking systems
  • Electronics
  • Bearings, lubes, and seals
  • Covering safety and math as it pertains to this trade.

You will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Certificate of Qualification as a Journeyperson (Red Seal) in Truck and Transport Service Technician
  • A working knowledge of MS Office is required.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have a minimum of three (3) years of related, recent work experience at the Journeyperson's level, including the ability to inspect, diagnose, maintain and service current model vehicles in the truck and transport service industry.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience teaching in a post-secondary environment in a blended delivery format.
