NBCC is currently seeking a dynamic and competent leader for the position of Community College Instructor in the Truck and Transport Program Step-I.

This is a casual position from November 8, 2021 to December 14, 2021.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

You will be collaborating with and reporting to the Manager of Business Development, and a member of the faculty team. You will be responsible for the planning and preparation of instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include but are not limited to:

  • customer relations
  • math
  • ozone depleting substances
  • shop practice
  • vehicle service and repair
  • welding and cutting
  • vehicle controls
  • brakes
  • power train
  • automotive and diesel engines
  • fuel systems
  • electrical systems

The successful candidate will teach in the STEP- I program. The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

What you'll need

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • Certificate of Qualification as a Journeyperson (Red Seal) in Truck and Transport Service Technician
  • A working knowledge of MS Office is required.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have a minimum of three (3) years of related, recent work experience at the Journeyperson's level, including the ability to inspect, diagnose, maintain and service current model vehicles in the truck and transport service industry.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post-secondary environment in a blended delivery format.

This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NBUPPE - Education (Instructional) collective agreement for the College.
