What you'll do


Reporting to the Department Head, as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for ensuring planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include, but are not limited to: PC Hardware & Operating Systems, Introductory Networking, Intermediate SQL, Database Design, MS Access, Computer Math & Stats, Data Retrieval & Visualization, Technical Writing & Research, Linux Fundamentals, Quality Assurance and Responsive Web Design. The successful candidate will have recent and demonstrated practical experience in maintaining and managing computer hardware and software systems, planning and managing networks, working with a Linux based operating system, web development (responsive and/or adaptive websites), database design, and intermediate SQL. 

The successful incumbent must be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices, be flexible in adapting to new technologies as well as instructing in a variety of subject areas. The successful incumbent must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to plan and organize effectively in a team environment.

What you'll need


Required qualifications for this opportunity include a two (2) year College Information Technology Diploma OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related experience with demonstrated practical experience in the instructional areas as stated above. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Experience and/or training in the following will be considered assets: Business Intelligence, Data Mining, Data Analytics, Cloud Services, Mechatronics (Arduino, SUMOBot, etc). Mobile App Development, Quality Assurance and CISCO certification at the CCNA level.

 Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from is $1,692 to $2,685 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $2,932 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees collective agreement (Education – Instructional Group) for the College.
