New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is committed to transforming lives and communities. The College is currently seeking dynamic and competent leaders for casual positions of Community College Instructors, in the Bricklaying Apprenticeship Program for the period of December 2021-April 2022.

  • 1 Part-time position (Woodstock)
  • 1 Full-time position (Woodstock)

What you'll do

Responsibilities

You will be collaborating with and reporting to the Academic Chair of Building and Construction. As a member of the faculty team, you will be responsible for the planning and preparation of instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include but are not limited to:

  • Apprenticeship Block Levels 1,2, and 3
  • Basic to Advanced Masonry Techniques
  • Building arches and entryways
  • Patios
  • Stone
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Tools and Equipment
  • Rigging and Hoisting
  • Anchors, Ties, and Joint Reinforcement
  • Refractory
  • Restoration
  • And other related courses.

The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma, or equivalency, and a valid Bricklaying Red Seal or Certificate of Qualification.
  • A working knowledge of MS Office is required.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching virtually in learning management system.

  • A competitive salary at a rate of $28.39 to $40.00 per hour. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $43.68 hourly, based on their level of post-secondary education.

This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NBUPPE - Education (Instructional) collective agreement for the College.
