Salary Range: $53,732 - $69,858 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Dean of Arts, with secondary reporting to the Manager, Instructional Design within CEL, the Instructional Designer collaborates and coaches faculty on instructional design solutions in developing effective and engaging learning experiences. This position develops online open-entry and term-based courses within the learning management system that are innovative and engaging to students.

• Collaborate and coach faculty on instructional design solutions in developing effective and engaging learning experiences using instructional design theory and principles.
• Develop online open-entry and term-based courses within the learning management system that are innovative and engaging to students.
• Refresh and redevelop open-entry and term-based courses.
• Incorporate learning technologies such as audio and video recording and editing and html.
• Conduct quality reviews of project deliverables, adhere to established quality assurance guidelines.
• Perform e-development including creation and copy of D2L development and live shells.
• Create rich and interactive course content.
• Assist faculty with online course delivery.
• Track and report on course/program completion.
• Monitor timetable to ensure online courses are offered in the proper term.
• Liaise with Deans, Chairs, and program co-ordinators to ensure course and program completion.
• Report to Dean of Arts on project status for provincial funding.
• Create materials and develop process improvements to support faculty and instructors.
• Research best practices and technologies for online delivery and development of courses.
• Research and pilot new instructional technologies.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor including instructional design projects within CEL.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Bachelor's degree in Arts, Education, design/technology, computer science or related field.
• 5 years of experience in instructional design, educational technology, training pedagogy, or curricular development in post-secondary education.
• Project management experience as well as experience with higher-ed learning management system.
