The Opportunity
The role of Instructional Designer at Saint Mary's University is to align teaching practice, learning activities, and assessments to ensure that students get targeted and timely feedback that reflects learning. Using adult learning principles along with instructional theories and principles, the Instructional Designers develop learning materials and environments specifically for multi-mode access, online delivery, and accessibility. Working with faculty, colleagues, and subject matter experts to design and develop learning materials, they draw upon a variety of teaching strategies to deepen student learning. They select and use active learning and accessible learning methods to define and develop instructional materials while leveraging technologies to deliver equitable access.
The Instructional Designer, Learning Experience works out of the Studio for Teaching & Learning and reports to the Director, Educational Development & Technology.
This position is considered a one (1) year contract position with the University and salary will be paid at $45,000 + 4% in lieu of vacation.

What you'll need
Qualifications
To be the successful applicant you will possess a Master's Degree in Education with Education Technology or Distributed Learning specialization and a minimum of two (2) years of recent and related experience. Experience and training in instructional design; strong written and oral communication skills; strong customer service skills; and the ability to lead a faculty member through a creative process will ensure you success in this position. You will also have the ability to work in fast-paced, team oriented environment and have knowledge of instructional design principles, learning theories and pedagogies, and best practices in online teaching and learning. Experience with University learning management system, synchronous technologies, virtual classrooms, and mobile communications will be considered assets
