Under the general direction of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Information Technology Security Specialist maintains and advances Information Technology security on campus for IT related activities. The IT Security Specialist will increase awareness and promote prevention of IT security incidents through research and training. Provides application level security for Key Enterprise Resource Planning systems and works with data custodians and other EIT staff to provide the required security changes in response from users. Provides confidential support to the university; investigates and monitors security risk, reports, and takes-action on security incidents. Involved with the management of IT security related projects for the University.

Group affiliation for this position is with the Administrative, Professional, Confidential (APC) Group. The position is evaluated at a Group 6 (salary range $64,789 - $83,489). Salary scale can be viewed here.

Qualifications

To be the successful IT Security Specialist you will possess an Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Information Systems and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in IT Security systems and implementation. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. The successful candidate must have comprehensive knowledge of IT Security practices policies and legislation, strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You must have the ability to keep abreast of latest trends and changes in the IT security threat landscape and new technology as required and have practical knowledge of project management methodologies. Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) with experience briefing executives will round out your qualifications as the successful candidate.
