CAPITAL PLANNING & OPERATIONS

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time | Continuing | Fredericton | On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 7:30 - 4:00 | 40 hours per week

Additional Working Conditions:

  • The nature of the work will vary depending on the task and may be in or out of doors under varying conditions.
  • The work will often be done in association with other trades in and around moving and electrical equipment.
  • Must have the physical capacity to carry out the functions of the trade including the ability, on occasion, to lift heavy objects, and work from ladders or in cramped quarters and often dirty quarters.

Salary Range: $29.22 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the CHP Superintendent, the Industrial Mechanic is skilled maintenance and construction work in the Industrial Mechanic trade at the Journeyperson level.

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on building and heating plant mechanical equipment, including compressors, fans, diesel or gasoline generator sets, air handling equipment, boiler fuel feed equipment, and cafeteria/kitchen equipment.
  • Weld materials not associated with pressure vessels.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on various Capital Planning & Operations mechanical equipment.
  • Prepare job estimates as to the nature and quantity of materials and labour required.
  • Supervise the work of Trades Helpers and/or Labourers.
  • Perform elementary duties of another trade to expedite an assigned task.
  • Apply safety precautions, as may be required, to ensure minimum hazard to self and others.
  • Care and preservation of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Formal basic education as required by the New Brunswick Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour to meet Journeyman standards for the Industrial Mechanic Trade.
  • Must possess valid, current licenses to practice the Industrial Mechanic Trade.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience at the Journeyperson level in the Industrial Mechanic Trade with a concentration on maintenance projects.

Additional Strengths

  • Familiar with the National Building Code and the New Brunswick Health and Safety Act as they apply to the Industrial Mechanic Trade.
  • The ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and diagrams.
