As the primary champion of the University's Declaration of Rights and Responsibilities, Human Rights and Equity provides free services on both the Fredericton and Saint John campuses. It provides leadership and support for initiatives and policies that contribute to a positive, healthy, equitable, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm |36.25 hours per week
Salary Range: $59,848 - $77,804 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Associate- Vice President, Human Rights & Equity, this position will play a critical role in providing and guiding advocacy measures at UNB and designing and implementing university-wide strategies for educational frameworks.
- Provide direction & expertise in activities related to human rights & equity, with the goal of eliminating systemic barriers through implementation of equitable, anti-oppressive and anti-racist policies and practices.
- Develop a repository of advocacy supports and services for UNB community members.
- Develop and facilitate workshops/modules, communiques, events, and other varied training sessions for university employees, and liaise with other experts regarding professional development.
- Develop customized training/materials in formats that meet the needs of the stakeholder groups, including in-person, virtual/online sessions, and a variety of other remote options.
- Develop and lead the human rights and equity integration plan, including collaborating on goal setting and deliverables.
- Build institutional and program capacity through the creation of inclusive, anti-oppressive, anti-racist teaching, learning and curriculum practices.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Undergraduate degree in related field (I.e Gender studies, social work, Adult Ed, Political Science, etc.) An equivalent combination of academic preparation and experience, with additional training in equity studies may be considered.
- Minimum 5 years' working in the community and addressing issues related to human rights & equity.
Additional Strengths
- Lived experience for this position is an asset.
- Knowledge of international student experiences.
- Ability to facilitate group sessions and circles to discuss topics relating to Human Rights & Equity.
- Possesses an intersectional lens to UNB issues.
- Involvement in innovation and professional development related to anti-racism, anti-oppression and leadership.
- Certification or knowledge of restorative practices is an asset.
- Excellent time management skills and a high attention to detail.
