Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Officer (Labour Relations) is responsible for providing advice and services in support of six (6) collective agreements, with primary focus on bargaining units comprised of Support Staff, The Language Centre Instructors, Custodial and Security, and Trades. This includes interpretation, application and implementation of the collective agreements, as well as managing activities relating to the implementation of the collective agreements. The HR Officer participates as a member of the Administration's collective bargaining team in the negotiation of collective agreements, participates as a member of the caucus and sits at the table as a member of the bargaining team as required. This role also provides support on relevant Employee Relations issues. In addition to collective agreement related duties, this position is also responsible for project management of special projects and initiatives under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Human Resources and /or Senior Director, Human Resources. Works collaboratively with other HR employees to ensure the timely, accurate and effective delivery of HR services. Provides excellent customer service.

This position is considered a maternity leave contract position with the University (anticipated start date is November 2021, ending November 2022) and salary range will be $64,789 - $ 83,489 annually.

Qualifications

To be the successful Human Resources Officer, Labour Relations you will possess an undergraduate degree, with a concentration in Human Resources Management, Law or Industrial Relations. A certificate in Human Resource Management is preferred. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience in a complex multi bargaining unit organization. Advanced working knowledge of relevant employment, labour and human rights legislation and regulations and collective agreements is essential to this role. Excellent interpersonal skills; written and oral communication, conflict resolution, analytical and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and computer competency (including Microsoft Office) will round out your qualifications as the successful candidate for this position. Experience with enterprise/HRIS systems will be considered an asset.
