This position is located in Halifax and reports to the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources (AVP, HR) and is responsible for providing HR Generalist support to the full HR function to a portfolio of Bermudian clients to include: recruitment & selection activities; managing the employee new hire and exit processes; managing the administration of policies, procedures and programmes; executing employee initiatives and assisting with special projects as assigned.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

• Coordinating all aspects of the employee life cycle (i.e. recruitment, onboarding, probation, job change, contract renewal, exits) per organisational processes and procedures
• Managing all aspects of the recruitment and selection process for an assigned portfolio of client departments, including preparing job advertisements, conducting interviews, overseeing reference checks, short-listing/selecting/advising of regret of applicants, and preparing offer letters by negotiating within set guidelines
• Consulting with clients on various employment activity requests such as promotions, transfers, job title changes, job re-evaluations, salary adjustments, etc.
• Preparing immigration applications for all work permit types, when required
• Providing advice and guidance to management and employees on all HR policies, processes, benefits, and best practices for a variety of HR matters

• Providing support for all HR initiatives and leading special projects or programmes in a variety of HR disciplines as required
• Assisting with the development and review of HR related policies and procedures and offering recommendations for continuous improvement
• Maintaining various HR reports that track and measure the above activities and generating other reports as required.
• Maintaining knowledge of HR legislation, practices, and trends

What you'll need

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources or Business with three years' experience in a similar role, or equivalent, preferably in the financial services industry
• Track record of leading projects in a variety of HR disciplines, including compensation, benefits and talent development
• Experience with immigration applications and a good understanding and interpretation of the Department of Immigration work permit policy
• Knowledge of local employment legislation and Bank policies, procedures and practices, as well as the ability to apply them daily
• Knowledge of compensation and benefit programmes
• Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to analyse and interpret information and develop recommendations for appropriate course of action
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as good interpersonal skills
• Good report writing skills
• Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information effectively, and operate with absolute discretion
• Ability to operate with integrity and remain impartial
• Team player with the ability to work independently when required
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications
• This position may require travel to Bermuda one (1) to two (2) times a year
