The Department of Human Resources at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for a two-year term, contract position of Human Resources Advisor - Classification and Job Design.
Classification: 2-year, Full-time Term Contract Position

What you'll do
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Advisor provides support to the HR Department and other University departments, primarily with job evaluation and job classification (job design), and various HR related projects aimed to improve efficiency within the office.
This role is consultative to administrators, department heads, employees, and HR staff on matters relating to job design, job evaluation and classification. You will use our Modified Aiken Plan to work with employees and their supervisor to ensure position descriptions are up to date. You will help employees prepare for the job evaluation process in accordance with collective agreements, guidelines, and university policies as applicable. This position also advises on work organization, alternative structures, and implications of proposed job design changes; evaluates and analyzes jobs within the University employee groups; initiates reviews at appropriate times, assesses information, and seeks clarification as required. You will be collecting and interpreting data for position evaluation and classification purposes.
This role is designed to help build efficiencies within the department as we move to be a more data-driven team. You will have the initiative to participate and/or lead these projects and support the work from a research and reporting perspective.
What you'll need
The preferred candidate will have an undergraduate degree in a related field or a diploma in HR, plus at least two years' related experience in Human Resources. Previous experience working in an academic environment is considered an asset. Current knowledge of Job Design and Job Evaluation best practices is required. Previous experience in the design and delivery of Job Design and Classification, and demonstrated experience with data gathering and analysis would be ideal. The preferred candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, presentation, and communication skills. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and have an aptitude for technology. The preferred candidate will be proactive, analytical, and an excellent relationship builder.
