We have a new opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team of HR professionals. 

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, the HR Generalist is responsible for providing support in the development, administration and maintenance of Human Resource programs. You will provide key support to Managers and Supervisors with day-to-day HR issues including: policy administration, monitoring and compliance for areas of employee and labour relations, investigations, performance management, training and development, employee leave of absences and related return to work initiatives. You will also provide administration and support on occupational health and safety (OH&S), OH&S incident reporting and investigation and other related projects as required.

We're seeking an HR professional who models a strong work ethic; acts with integrity and has a collaborative style with effective communication skills (written and oral), and works well both independently and as a member of a team.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • University or college diploma, including an educational certificate in Human Resources Management or a related field. Equivalent of training and/or experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience within Human Resources field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures as it relates to Human Resources best practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with NS Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strengths and abilities with task management and organizational skills, capable of handling high-volume workloads within tight deadlines
  • Professional, collaborative attitude with respect for confidentiality and discretion of private/sensitive matters.
  • Previous experience in recruitment and selection.
  • Familiarity with a unionized environment and collective agreements would be considered an asset.

We manage and operate the Halifax Convention Centre, Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic. Created as part of a government partnership between the Province of Nova Scotia and Halifax Regional Municipality, we work in collaboration with them to manage our business in a responsible and transparent manner.

We were established in 2014 through legislation to operate, maintain and manage the activities of the Halifax Convention Centre in a manner that will promote and develop economic development, tourism and industry in the Province generally, and the Municipality.

Effective April 1, 2017, our mandate expanded to include the continued management and operations of Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic, formerly under Trade Centre Limited (TCL).

Our facilities and the events we attract are platforms for prosperity. Whether we’re attracting large delegations or hosting an elite group of athletes for an international competition, we are a catalyst for new opportunities and connections between Nova Scotia and the world.
