The Scotiabank Centre, managed by Events East Group, is the largest multipurpose facility in Atlantic Canada, serving as the region's premier venue for major entertainment and sporting events and the nucleus of major event activity in Nova Scotia. With a seating capacity of more than 10,000 and the versatility to accommodate a range of events, Scotiabank Centre hosts close to 500,000 attendees each year and is home to the Halifax Mooseheads, Halifax Thunderbirds Lacrosse, and the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.

THE POSITION:

Events East Group is now inviting applications for the causal hourly position of Xpression Graphics and Video Playback Operator with our Production team.

This position will report to the Production Manager for instruction and execution of event-based graphics, animation and video playback tasks. This position will be responsible for operating a Ross Xpression graphics system during live events. The Graphics Operator will build and insert pre-packaged graphic elements prior to each production, including lower thirds, bugs, full screens etc. This position will be responsible for testing all production elements prior to air. The Graphics Operator will work closely with partners' design teams on helping with developed technical standards for all broadcast graphics.

THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate the Scotiabank Centre's Xpression system during live events.
  • Build and update all show graphics.
  • Make live edits as needed.
  • Ensure that all graphics follow the branding guidelines for each event.
  • Perform quality control tests on all graphics prior to air.
  • Ensure that all elements are coded properly for Ross Xpression Dashboard for playback readiness and execution.

THE PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-3 years experience building production graphics.
  • 1-3 years experience working with Ross Xpression system
  • 1-3 years experience working in a live production environment.
  • Must be available and able to work mornings, days, evenings, and weekends as per event schedules.

Events East

We manage and operate the Halifax Convention Centre, Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic. Created as part of a government partnership between the Province of Nova Scotia and Halifax Regional Municipality, we work in collaboration with them to manage our business in a responsible and transparent manner.

We were established in 2014 through legislation to operate, maintain and manage the activities of the Halifax Convention Centre in a manner that will promote and develop economic development, tourism and industry in the Province generally, and the Municipality.

Effective April 1, 2017, our mandate expanded to include the continued management and operations of Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic, formerly under Trade Centre Limited (TCL).
