The Opportunity
Gogii Lighthouse Studios specializes in casual games with a wide appeal on multiple mobile platforms. The QA Specialist role requires someone who is extremely organized, detail-oriented and loves the nuances video gameplay. You'll know the games inside and out and be able to analyze their performance and behaviour in a way that helps the development team deliver on the overall vision to a high degree of quality.
You'll work with online tools to report bugs, track the progress of issues being fixed and find creative ways to destructively push the games to their limits.
Please Note: At this time we are looking for a Halifax-based candidate and we do not offer relocation.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
More than just playing the games, the role of the "QA Specialist" is essential to the development team's ability to ship the software. It requires an above-average attention to detail, the ability to analyze and communicate in the form of bug reports and "repro steps" -- the detailed list of breadcrumbs that got you to break the game. You'll be working with the developers and using bug tracking tools to provide as much engineering detail as possible to ensure things get fixed quickly and efficiently.
- Managing bugs with bug tracking tools such as GitHub, Trello, Assembla etc.
- Work closely with designers and producers to ensure the desired outcomes are represented in the game
- Know and understand the game and its functionality intimately
- Above-average attention to detail
- Provide detailed reports on performance and issues
- Communicate effectively and work with the team to ensure bugs are addressed
What you'll need
Qualifications
- You have an above average thoroughness and attention to detail
- You don't bore easily with repetitive tasks where games are concerned. You're not afraid of "the grind".
- You communicate effectively and work well in a team environment
- You've been through at least one development cycle before
- You've got knowledge of bug tracking tools and the Quality Assurance process
- You love games
- You have a great understanding of game design principles
