Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Athletics & Recreation, the Fitness and Recreation Coordinator has the overall responsibility to support the Department in managing all memberships, fitness, and operational areas within the gym and recreational areas. The Fitness and Recreation Coordinator is also responsible for supervising, training, and overseeing customer service, fitness programming, and ensuring we maintain high quality programming and personal coaching. Responsible for the preparation of schedules fitness and recreation staff. Utilizes fitness and university industry trends and standards to develop programming. Prepares and monitors departmental programming budget. Responsible for the financial aspect of business operations, and overseeing the sales, costs, and overall profitability of business operations

The Fitness Coordinator works out of the Athletics & Recreation Department and reports to the Assistant Director, Athletics & Recreation.

Group affiliation for this position is with the Administrative, Professional, Confidential Group (APC). The position is evaluated at a Group Four (4) (salary range $49,745 - $64,106). Salary scale can be viewed here.

Qualifications

To be the successful Fitness Coordinator, you will possess an Undergraduate degree in Health, Physical Education or Recreation and you will be a Certified Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer with Canfit Pro certification or equivalent. You will possess a minimum of three (3) years of related experience. Ability to handle and maintain confidential information, strong organizational skills, excellent customer service skills and strong communication, listening and writing skills are all required. Ability to function independently and as part of a team, cross cultural working experience and proficiency in Microsoft Suite, MS Outlook, Email and list services will round out your qualifications as the successful candidate. Assets for this position include Experience with Fusion (Inmsoft) software, knowledge or previous experience in athletics and recreational environments and CSEP certification.
