The Department of Financial Services at Mount Saint Vncent University invites applications for the nine-month term position of Financial Analyst.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Finance and Administration, the Financial Analyst will provide support for financial reporting and analysis and budget development and monitoring, and advance projects for the department.

  • provides strong financial analysis to support the Director and the Manager, Financial Planning and Control
  • assists with financial accounting and analysis for capital projects
  • prepares adjusting entries to the general ledger as required
  • meets with members of the University community, as necessary to provide financial advice and support to their initiatives and assist with budget development and financial projections
  • provides support for the annual audit preparations
  • works on projects (many of which are technology initiatives) as needed to advance their implementation
  • performs other duties from time to time

What you'll need

Qualifications

Candidates must have completed a Bachelor of Business Administration/Commerce with a major in Accounting and have a minimum of five years performing financial analysis. Strong communications and inter-personal skills are essential. A high level of attention to detail and efficient time managment and priority setting skills are also prerequisites for this position. Candidates must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with advanced skills in excel and use of technology to conduct financial analysis in the most efficient manner. Experience in using business enterprise systems for finance is required. Supporting all of these skills is a strong commitment to excellent customer service.
