What you'll do

Responsibilities

Collaborating under the leadership of the Manager of Budget and Reporting, the Financial Analyst will assist with the production of quarterly and annual financial reports including NBCC's annual audited financial statements for inclusion in NBCC's annual report.

The Financial Analyst is an integral part of the finance team. This position is responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial information and operational performance by supporting financial reporting, planning, budgeting, and forecasting; and to evaluate and interpret financial results, providing value added analysis, and looking beyond the figures to communicate the story the numbers are telling for a variety of audiences.

Other duties may include:

  • Budget preparation
  • Financial reporting
  • Analysis of income statements and balance sheets
  • Managing year-end process
  • Maintaining NBCC chart of accounts
  • Process improvements

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Business Administration or Commerce with a major in Accounting.
  • Enrolment in, or completion of, a Chartered Professional Accountant designation will be considered an asset.
  • Related work experience including experience with financial statements.
  • Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards.
  • Strong knowledge of MS office applications with advanced Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Access would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience with Enterprise-wide Financial System(s) e.g., Oracle and SIMS (Peoplesoft)
  • Excellent organizational skills, reliable and a self-starter coupled with the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Strong client service skills and the ability to communicate with stakeholders of varying organizational levels.

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a finance/budget role in a post-secondary environment and to candidates who have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and/or Access.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
