Under the direction of the Assistant Registrar, Student Finances, the Financial Aid & Awards Officer works within Enrolment Services and plays a significant role in the administration and stewardship of over 6.5 million dollars in scholarships and awards annually. This position provides financial counselling to present, potential and past students; provides financial aid & awards services on and off campus; assists in the recruitment process by providing funding options for post-secondary education to students and parents; assists in retention of students through financial literacy programs to improve student experience; acts as a student advocate with outside agencies; supports the Enrolment Service Representatives by keeping them informed and trained on the provincial and national changes to student assistance and ensures they are compliant in all procedures; provides assistance with loan, scholarship and bursary application completion; administer or assists with projects and events; acts as main contact and backup for U.S. loan representative and creates/presents workshops to students, parents and the university community.

The Financial Aid & Awards Officer works out of the Enrolment Services Department and reports to the Assistant Registrar, Student Finances.

This position is considered a contract position with the University and has no affiliation with any groups on campus. The annual salary range for this position is $49,000 - $61,000 + 4% in lieu of vacation.

Qualifications

To be the successful Financial Aid & Awards Officer, you will possess an Undergraduate Degree and a minimum of two (2) years of directly related work experience. You will possess the ability to work in a cross-cultural setting and providing services for a diverse population. Assets for this position include knowledge of scholarship award and administration, Provincial and Student Loan Program Regulations, website maintenance experience and bilingualism. A Financial Counselling Certificate is also considered an asset. The successful candidate must have the ability to travel and work on evenings and weekends as required.
