FACULTY OF FORESTRY AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Forestry and Environmental Management (ForEM) operates as a single entity but offers two undergraduate programs, a variety of research and professional Masters programs, and one PhD program. There are 18 teaching staff, 3 administrative support staff, 2 technicians, and 1 student advisor and outreach coordinator. There are currently 247 undergraduate students and 127 graduate students. ForEM has space in three buildings on the University campus: the IUC Forestry building, the Forest/Geology building, and the Tweeddale Centre housing the Wood Science Technology Centre with additional office space for ForEM research groups within the Hugh John Flemming Forestry Centre.

Salary Range: $24.42 - $28.90 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Faculty Administration Officer/Assistant to the Dean, the Clerk PL5 (Financial Administrator) provides high-level accounting support to the members of the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management and is responsible for maintaining and monitoring all research-related finances.

  • Develop and implement a financial tracking system for report reconciliation and forecasting of research funding. Reconcile accounts.
  • Prepare monthly and year-end statements and short-term financial projections.
  • Process paperwork that is required for invoicing clients and government agencies.
  • Prepare forms and contracts in consultation with HR concerning new hires and renewal of research staff contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with all UNB systems, policies and procedures related to finances as well as those of outside funding organizations.
  • Assist faculty members with submitting travel claims, personal reimbursement, PDA requests, advances and cheque requisitions.
  • Oversee purchases of equipment and supplies.
  • Perform day-to-day financial transactions.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post-secondary education in Business or Office Administration with a focus on accounting.
  • 3-5 years of relevant administrative experience.

Additional Strengths

  • Sound knowledge of fundamental accounting principles, spreadsheets, and financial terminology.
  • Ability to use university information systems (Colleague) would be an asset.
  • Ability to manage large amounts of diverse accounting materials and fiscal information would be an asset.
  • Ability to work independently, accurately, and responsibly with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.
