This is a term position from January 2022 to March 2024.

Responsibilities

The Experiential Learning (EL) Project Specialist is responsible for coordinating the implementation of a new Experiential Learning framework and standard across all NBCC programs. The Specialist will also coordinate and support the implementation of the framework and standard for the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design (NBCCD) and the Maritime College of Forest Technology (MCFT).

This role involves working closely with college instructors and learning design consultants to identify opportunities for experiential learning and ensure these are embedded in program curriculum. This requires providing expertise and advice on the integration of experiential learning activities with learning outcomes and evaluation methods. Duties also include developing timelines and resource plans, tracking and communicating project status, identifying potential risks, and collaborating with others to resolve issues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising program teams on integrating experiential learning activities with learning outcomes and evaluation methods.
  • Advising on the Experiential Learning (EL) project planning and development process.
  • Developing timelines and resource plans for the EL framework implementation in each college.
  • Acting as the main liaison between the experiential learning team, instructors, chairs, and- learning design consultants in the implementation of the framework within all three colleges.
  • Collaborating with program leads, learning design consultants and other colleagues on the integration of the EL framework and standard.
  • Monitoring and evaluating progress of the EL implementation, identifying potential issues, an determining and recommending solutions.
  • Providing metrics and reports to the EL Lead, college stakeholders and other agencies as required.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • Diploma and/or Degree in a relevant field (Adult Education) with at least two years of related experience.
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment involving academic, industry and/or community partners (preferably within a post-secondary environment).
  • Curriculum development expertise and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the development process, including how to connect course/program.
  • Demonstrated expertise in learning outcomes, assessment of those outcomes, and the activities and opportunities designed to facilitate student learning.
  • Knowledge of and experience with innovative teaching methods and various types of non-traditional experiential learning and work-integrated learning is important.
  • Demonstrated expertise in needs assessment and project management.
  • Proven record of successful industry collaborations and partnerships and demonstrated ability.
