Responsibilities

Acadia seeks an Executive Director, Development in the Office of Advancement to lead the University's fundraising programs through strategic management and hands-on involvement in the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects and donors.

Working in close collaboration with the Vice-President, Advancement as well as the Executive Director, Alumni Affairs, the Director, Advancement Services, and the Manager, Advancement Communications, the Executive Director will play a senior role in the design and execution of all general, capital, and special fundraising campaigns undertaken by Acadia.

Specific responsibilities in the following areas include:

  • Fundraising - successful management of the development pipeline and a personal prospect portfolio
  • Strategic Planning - development of a comprehensive strategic plan which reflects an integrated advancement model
  • Management - senior role in Acadia's Advancement Team and a member of the University's Strategic Leadership Council

What you'll need

Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate with at least 7 years of experience as a development professional with a proven track record in the not-for-profit sector.

Applicants must have a solid record of closing major gifts and have demonstrated strategic, operational, and financial management skills as well as the ability to lead a professional staff and to work effectively as a member of the Advancement Management team. Special expertise in planned giving would be advantageous.

Completion of a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required, with preference given to alumni of Acadia University.
