Position:  ERP System Support Analyst (NSGEU Local 79)

 (2 positions, 1 Temporary 9 month contract and 1 Temporary 6 month contract)

Department: Information Technology Systems & Support (ITSS)

Annual Salary: $55,000 per annum + 4% in lieu of vacation

Under the direction of the Manager, Application Support, the ERP System Support Analyst supports software systems for the University (Banner, Degree Works, Starrez, and others). This role requires teamwork and bears responsibility for the support of major University applications in an integrated, sustainable environment. As such, the ERP System Support Analyst is responsible for key software and system components, including:

  • Programming languages, tools and environments (SQL, Java, Groovy/Grails, Visual Studio, etc.)
  • Web-based applications
  • Custom application development.
  • User support tools (TeamDynamix, etc.)
  • Application servers (Tomcat / Weblogic)
  • ORACLE: The database engine maintaining University student and business records. Other database engines supported include MS SQL Server and MySQL.
  • Current administrative systems (Banner, Starrez, Degree Works, etc.).

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Duties of the ERP System Support Analyst include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing operational support to a team of Systems Analysts during a major system upgrade project.
  • Working closely with customers to implement operational and systems changes.
  • Supporting the Help Desk as required; demonstrating system and application changes as required.
  • Monitoring performance of software systems and databases; identifying immediate (non-routine) problems and taking corrective action as appropriate.
  • Providing, as assigned, advice and guidance regarding applications and problem resolution.
  • Resolving unusual application issues; troubleshooting recurrent, complex system problems not handled by standard methods; recommending changes to systems, processes or procedures to solve difficult problems.
  • Assisting in the implementation of system architectures through systems software change.
  • Performing analyses of current systems in light of available packages; recommending changes to systems and applications resulting from these analyses to ITSS Management.
  • Performing project leadership role for systems and applications projects.
  • Coordinating the efforts of other team members who are assigned to the project.
  • Developing and recommending a project plan under the supervision of ITSS management.
  • Reporting regularly on assigned projects (oral/written); anticipating problems in the projects, developing alternatives and recommending solutions.
  • Critiquing applications plans, designs and proposals from external vendors.

What you'll need

Qualifications

To be the successful ERP System Support Analyst you will possess a degree or diploma in Computer Science, or related discipline, as well as a minimum three (3) years' of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience maybe considered. Knowledge and experience in supporting or enhancing of Banner, Degree Works and Elevate is a definite asset. Additionally, you will possess good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
