The Faculty of Engineering encompasses five departments offering a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate programs in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Engineering Physics. Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25hours per week
Additional Working Conditions:

Salary Range: 44,904-56,128 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to Manager of Student Success and Outreach, the Equity & Inclusion Outreach Coordinator focuses on enhancing student recruitment and engagement, particularly among underrepresented groups The incumbent will manage various outreach programs, coordinate events, establish partnerships, and lead EDI initiatives, ensuring alignment with the faculty's mission and strategic goals.
- Develop and implement outreach programs targeting underrepresented groups in STEM, specifically focusing on Women in STEM, Black youth in STEM, and Indigenous youth in STEM.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Outreach Coordinator to ensure EDI principles are integrated into existing outreach initiatives.
- Lead the planning and execution of EDI-focused events such as Go Eng Girl, Go Code Girl, and Ignite HER Future.
- Organize specialized workshops and camps aimed at increasing STEM awareness.
- Create and distribute tailored educational materials and resources that address the unique challenges and opportunities for these demographics in STEM fields.
- Identify and establish partnerships with organizations, educational institutions, and community groups that focus on supporting Women in STEM, Black youth in STEM, and Indigenous youth in STEM.
- Serve as the primary liaison between these partners and the Faculty of Engineering.
- Engage with local and regional communities to promote EDI in STEM.
- Collaborate with the Diversity within Engineering Student Committee to lead EDI initiatives.
- Develop and implement strategic EDI initiatives assigned by the Manager of Student Success and Outreach.
- Monitor and report on the progress and impact of EDI initiatives within the Faculty of Engineering.
- Provide training and resources to staff, faculty, and students on EDI best practices and principles.
- Develop and curate engaging content, including articles, blog posts, and social media updates, to highlight EDI achievements and programs within the Faculty of Engineering.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on the importance of EDI in STEM and the specific efforts being made by the Faculty of Engineering.
- Act as a mentor to students from underrepresented groups, providing guidance and support throughout their academic and professional journeys.
- Assist with fundraising efforts to support scholarships, grants, and programs for Women in STEM, Black youth in STEM, and Indigenous youth in STEM.
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A University Degree in Engineering, Science, Education or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in outreach, community engagement, diversity and inclusion initiatives, or program management, preferably within STEM fields or educational institutions
Additional Strengths
- An emphasis on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in STEM fields is preferred.
- Advanced degrees or certifications in related fields will be considered an asset.
- Experience in planning and executing events, workshops, or camps aimed at promoting STEM education and diversity is considered an asset.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and managing outreach programs or initiatives, with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) is considered an asset.
- Ability to establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, industry stakeholders, and academic institutions to support outreach efforts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage with a wide range of audiences and diverse audiences.
- Strong presentation skills.
