Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $49,402 - $61,75 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Department Chair, the Electronic Technologist is responsible for the research, acquisition, installation, repair, upkeep, and inventory of a wide variety of equipment software in ME particularly in the undergraduate teaching laboratories. The Electronic Technologist provides technical support to undergraduate and graduate students.

• Set up experiments, repair equipment, and maintain a proper inventory of the laboratories.
• Maintain awareness of the location of equipment in the laboratories.
• Ensure the labs are kept clean and tidy.
• Troubleshoot and repair the electronic equipment.
• Install and maintain computers and their associated software, software licensing, networking, cabling, and electronic devices.
• Provide laboratory computer support for students and faculty.
• Maintain and repair specialized electronic equipment and systems.
• Assist the Faculty and Staff in designing complex electronic circuits for labs or research purposes.
• Fabricate and assemble well-documented electronic circuits using hand and hot air reflow soldering.
• Layout, fabricate and assemble printed circuit boards (with training).
• Research and advise on proper selection of electronic instrumentation, components and equipment.
• Prepare cost estimates for equipment.
• Generate order requests to ensure sufficient electronic component inventory for general and specific lab applications.
• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Post Secondary Education in Electrical, Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field.
• Experience in the repair and construction of sophisticated electronic equipment.
• Experience with computer system troubleshooting and repair.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Additional Strengths

• A University Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is considered a strong asset.
• Experience with PCB design and fabrication would be considered an asset.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to address a wide range of audiences.
