McInnes Cooper is seeking a motivated and proactive Document Automation Developer to join our team in a full time permanent position. The Document Automation Developer will be incremental in automating and developing template precedent sets for the Firms’ various practice groups. Location for this position is flexible. Travel may be required.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

As a Document Automation Developer you will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with law practice area developers to develop precedent sets
  • Code and develop documents for use in a document automation system
  • Work closely with Systems Analysts for any development requirements of document automation system that may be necessary to achieve long term needs and goals
  • Work closely with Legal Professional Resources team to develop document sets to gain maximum efficiencies from time keepers while providing maximum value to our clients
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate and reliable documentation of document package development, use and change
  • Making informed business decisions necessary to develop document sets for long term use and continuous improvements
  • Assist with change management

What you'll need

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following skill set:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or Diploma in IT Programming or related education or transferable experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a related field
  • Proficient in Python, Django (or other web frameworks), XML, MS-SQL, VBA, HTML, CSS
  • Coding with the use of logic statements, clause libraries, taxonomy and field/data identification Excel in a demanding, high-pace environment, be highly detail-oriented, and be flexible to changing priorities. Previous experience in a law firm would be preferred, but not mandatory
  • Strong template development/style engine skills
  • Exceptional technology skills, with proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office, proficiency in Microsoft Word (specifically styles and formatting) is required
  • Working in a team environment, the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, will be strong team player and have high personal integrity
  • Self driven in building knowledge and specialized skills
  • Must be an out of the box thinker and able to apply creative uses to existing tools and available resources
