WorkSafeNB is seeking to fill a Disability Management and Benefits Specialist. Reporting to the Director, Health and Wellness, the Disability Management & Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the disability management and employee benefit programs and assisting in promoting wellness initiatives within the organization. The primary focus is planning and coordinating activities related to disability management (remain-at-work and return-to-work) and employee well-being.

Responsibilities

Your key areas of responsibility are as follows:

· Disability Management - Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Disability Management Program to prioritize employees' well-being and effectively manage and mitigate the risks associated with both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.

· Training and Development - Support training and development of disability management, and benefits-related programs

· Statistical Analysis - Gather and analyze data related to disability management and benefits from multiple sources to extract trends and organizational insights.

· Wellness Support and Promotion - Support the Health, Safety and Wellness team with corporate wellness initiatives to promote the holistic health and wellbeing of our employees.

· Benefits Program - Provide education to employees about the features and advantages of the benefits plans available, offering accessible support and expertise to employees for understanding, maximizing, and making informed decisions about their benefits.

What you'll need

Qualifications

You, as a successful candidate, possess:

· University degree in a relevant field or a two-year college Diploma in a relevant field with an additional two (2) years relevant work experience.

· Three (3) years of experience in disability management.

· Certification in disability management - either have or willing to obtain within 2 years of employment.

· Experience with disability management, Workers' Compensation Board and long-term disability plans.

· Knowledge in Disability Management.

· Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and process development, reporting and governance.

· Knowledge and understanding of Human Rights legislation, Canada Labour Code, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workers' Compensation Act.

· Track record of advising in disability claims management, absence management, accommodation, and achieving program goals.

· The ability to assess needs, analyze and advise on sensitive situations and recommend practical solutions for employees experiencing a disability.

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

· The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

· Familiarity with assistive technologies and resources to support accommodation efforts.

· The ability to navigate the organization and interacting with staff at all levels.

Written and spoken competency in English is required for this position.

Pay Scale $74,019.97 to $87,081.65

Hours of work are those required to perform the assigned tasks but shall not be less than 35 hours per week.

Your primary workspace will be from your in-home office, with the occasional expectation of in person meetings, for that reason, working from outside the province or country is not permissible.

WorkSafeNB

Organization

WorkSafeNB administers no-fault workplace accident and disability insurance for employers and their workers, funded solely through assessments on employers. All employers having three or more workers are obligated to obtain compensation coverage.

WorkSafeNB is committed to preventing workplace injuries and illness through education and enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

WorkSafeNB is administered by a board of directors consisting of the chairperson, a vice-chairperson, the president and CEO (non-voting member), the chairperson of the Appeals Tribunal (non-voting member), five members representing workers, and five members representing employers. Other than the president & CEO and the chairperson of the Appeals Tribunal, members of the board of directors serve part-time.

WorkSafeNB's mandate is to:

  • Promote the creation of a workplace safety culture in which all employees and employers view all occupational diseases and accidents as being preventable.
  • Promote an understanding, acceptance, and compliance with all legislation for which WorkSafeNB is responsible, including the enforcement of the OHS Act and regulations.
  • Provide timely compensation benefits, medical aid, rehabilitation, and safe return-to-work services to injured workers.
  • Provide sustainable insurance and insurance-related services to the employer community.
  • Represent stakeholders and provide recommendations and advice to government with respect to legislation, and publish such reports, studies, and recommendations WorkSafeNB considers advisable.

Assessments are affected by the level of activities in the province's workplaces, as are the resulting claims. There are also substantial assets that ensure WorkSafeNB will be able to provide the ongoing benefits promised to injured workers through a wage loss recovery insurance system. These funds are invested in the financial markets and investment returns are subject to the ups and downs of the marketplace.
