Acadia seeks a professional accountant and finance professional with proven leadership and management experience to fill the role of Director, Treasury Services within the Finance Department. Reporting to the Associate Vice President Finance and Treasurer, the Director, Treasury Services is a key member of the Financial Services team.

The Director is responsible for the management of all treasury and tax related activities for the university, including cash management, debt management, cashflow modelling. The role is the key operational contact with the university's banking partners. In addition, the position is responsible for the financial management and accounting related to the University's endowed assets, including management of the investment firms, custodians and analyst. The Director is responsible for all university tax matters, including HST filings and Canadian and US Charity tax filings. The Director should possess an understanding of fund accounting and GAAP for non-profits. The Director is responsible for identifying and implementing improvements in business practices which enhance internal controls, create operational efficiencies and improve service delivery. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The successful candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in accounting and will have obtained an accounting CPA designation with at least 10 years of experience and 5 years of Treasury management and/or tax management experience.
  • The candidate should have a CFA designation or have interest in pursuing this designation.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated strategic, operational, and financial management skills as well as the ability to lead a professional financial unit.
  • The ideal candidate will be a motivated, organized individual with strong communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and quantitative skills, a rigorous work ethic and a genuine interest in post-secondary education.
  • A strong aptitude for technology and extensive knowledge of relational database accounting systems, and their underlying structures is necessary qualification.
  • Experience with software query tools and expert knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook, including experience in developing, extraction and management of data files from numerous applications is a required qualification.

THE REWARDS: Acadia offers a comprehensive benefit package in addition to a starting salary to commensurate with qualifications and experience in the range of $77,470 - $80,863 per annum (AUPAT Level 8).
