Acadia seeks a dynamic, strategic thinker with outstanding business instincts to serve as our Director, Open Acadia. The Director of Open Acadia will initiate and lead business development opportunities, oversee administration of the online and extension credit courses/programs, non-credit continuing and professional development education, and related outreach activities of the University. The Director reports to, and is accountable to, the Provost for providing vision, excellence, and leadership in a wide variety of initiatives in support of the operations of Open Acadia.

We are seeking a professional with demonstrated ability to collaborate purposefully and effectively with a broad range of campus constituencies, external stakeholders, and partners to develop and oversee strategies and plans that reflect Acadia's vision and ensure the success of Open Acadia. This position will work with relevant units to analyze data associated with student success, equity gaps, and enrollment trends and use the data to enhance and update strategic priorities.

The Director will manage the operating budget for online and extension programs and oversee all grant-related activities, including seeking new funding sources, developing, and submitting grant reports to funding agencies. The Director will lead and mentor staff to ensure delivery of effective and timely goals and results adjusting priorities and responsibilities as needed to position the department for optimal success.

The Director will be an engaged, visible, and collaborative leader with an understanding of the ever-shifting challenges facing higher education and continuing education.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree with at least five years of management experience preferably comprising of senior roles in an education service environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in business development/management or project management. Experience in communications, sales, marketing, or other related fields may also be considered.
  • Experience in overseeing or conducting extension and online education considered an asset.
  • The candidate must have demonstrated strategic, operational, and financial management skills as well as the ability to lead a professional unit.
  • Superior communication skills and organizational and administrative abilities are required.
  • Must be client-focused, with problem-solving, priority-setting, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, carry on multiple projects within the same timeframe, and adapt and be flexible to changing circumstances.
  • Creative thinker, action-oriented, and versatile with ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule and domestic and international travel will be required.
