The Office of Experiential Education

The Office of Experiential Education provides leadership and strategic direction for experiential education at UNB. In collaboration with external employers, funders, & partners, we create, strengthen, and support experiential learning opportunities for all UNB students. Our mandate is to improve the quantity and quality of experiential learning opportunities for students in all faculties at UNB.

  • As this is a Bi-Campus position, regular travel between the Fredericton & Saint John Campuses is required.

Salary Range: $76,626 - $104,433 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Vice Provost of Learning & Student Experience, The Director of Experiential Education works closely with senior leadership to guide and report on strategic goals related to experiential learning at UNB. The Director is responsible for the overall management of the bi-campus Office of Experiential Education and providing strategic direction for UNB's commitment to transformative education through experiential learning.

  • Provide strategic direction for UNB's commitment to experiential education.
  • Consult and collaborate with experiential education coordinators, senior leaders across the university, with external stakeholders and funders, and with the Office of Experiential Education team.
  • Set targets and priorities for UNB's transformative education pillar in collaboration with UNB's Standing Committee on Experiential Education.
  • Support the creation and management of data reporting tools and provide updates to senior leaders.
  • Manage and maintain the ExperienceUNB software platform that offers management and reporting on experiential learning programs at UNB.
  • Engage all UNB faculties and units as internal partners for experiential learning.
  • Lead the development of educational resources to support experiential learning.
  • Create and manage communications and marketing strategies to highlight experiential learning at UNB.
  • Represent UNB on internal, provincial, and national committees related to experiential education.
  • Provide people management and leadership for the Office of Experiential Education team.
  • Seek and manage internal and external funding to support the OEE team.
  • Provide direct supervision of OEE team members (5 staff members).
  • Develop and manage work plans, reporting structures, and progress reports for OEE employees.
  • Manage ongoing data collection and reporting frameworks, tools, and metrics for external funders.
  • Write grant and funding proposals to seek funding for experiential learning at UNB.
  • Develop funding allocation and disbursement processes with Financial Services at UNB.
  • Develop relationships and engage external partners for experiential learning including employers and funders.
  • Develop and implement an Employer Advisory Group to provide direction and feedback on experiential learning initiatives at UNB.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A Graduate Degree in Education, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in project management, coordination, business development, or experiential education projects required.
  • Experience leading a team or managing staff.

Additional Strengths

  • Experience with and understanding of experiential education is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with Orbis software platform or other experiential learning tracking software is an asset.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage change and drive innovation from conception through to implementation.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
