The Director of Admissions and Enrollment Services is responsible for managing a full range of strategies, policies and practices in the area of admissions and Enrollment services including, student recruitment, campus visit program, undergraduate and graduate admissions. Responsibilities include strategic planning, budgeting, staff selection and supervision, research and policy development, publications, and reporting and analysis functions. The Director of Admissions and Enrollment Services represents NSCAD University to post-secondary and secondary institutions, government agencies, the media, prospective students, and professional associations. This position must be responsive to institutional goals in a time of rapid and dynamic change.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and implements enrollment services, including research, strategy development, planning, policy development and program coordination.
  • Monitors trends in student demographics and investigates and develops strategies to encourage Enrollment of students from new, under-enrolled or non-traditional markets.
  • Working with the Registrar and senior university officials, assists in the development systems to promote student retention and persistence.
  • Plans, directs and implements all admission services, including secretary to the Admissions Committee, reviewing materials, interviewing candidates, correspondence, the release of application materials and calendar of events/deadlines.
  • Develops, recommends and manages admissions policies.
  • Coordinates and assists in the development of promotional strategies and materials.
  • Researches and recommends marketing strategies and initiatives for domestic and international recruitment.
  • Produces reports and statistics on recruitment.
  • Assigns, evaluates, and supervises in conjunction with the Provost the duties of admissions and recruitment support staff, contract staff, students and volunteers.
  • Manages admissions and recruitment data systems.
  • Represents the university at provincial, national and international professional association conferences, seminars and meetings.
  • When it is deemed appropriate by the institution, the incumbent may be required to participate in travel for recruitment purposes.

What you'll need

Qualifications

A graduate degree and significant experience at a management or equivalent level in a post-secondary institution is required (an equivalent combination of training and experience including non-traditional forms of educations and experience will be considered). Must possess a thorough knowledge of provincial, national and international education systems. Familiarity with current database and software applications is required. An informed knowledge of art, design, media arts and new technology is an asset. Must possess initiative and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven sound judgment and decision-making skills required. Demonstrated ability to act with sensitivity, fairness and diplomacy. Must be highly organized. A valid Canadian driver's license and passport are required.
