Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Chief Services Officer, the Director, Loss Prevention is accountable for the corporate direction and overall leadership, management and control of the NSLC's Loss Prevention, Investigation, Enforcement (Regulatory Compliance) and Emergency Management Programs and Services. The position directs a team of NSLC and contract Corporate Security staff providing monitoring, incident reporting and mitigation, security officer and loss prevention officer services, including investigative, regulatory compliance, security management consulting and analytical services across the organization.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

· Lead strategic planning processes, providing vision and direction for Corporate Loss Prevention initiatives, programs, services, investigations, security management, regulatory compliance, emergency awareness and response

· Develop and implement proactive and reactive security and loss prevention programs to protect NSLC customers, employees and assets, including loss prevention education and awareness programs, reporting and response

· Lead internal and external investigative functions as related to loss prevention and security to ensure the delivery of investigative support services

· Provide strong leadership, coaching, and development for NSLC Corporate Security staff to maintain a competent, efficient and motivated team

· Liaise with internal stakeholders (ie. operations, HR, Safety) to identify issues and opportunities where applicable and work collaboratively to solve them.

· Develop and implement physical security standards, policies and procedures for the NSLC

· Partner with applicable stakeholders, providing recommendations on required investments to support Corporate loss prevention objectives

· Select and manage tendered, contracted security firms to provide quality security and investigative services through a central station operation

· Act as a liaison with law enforcement authorities and work with external ORC (Organized Retail Crime) groups to ensure retail programs are current and relevant

Secondary Responsibilities

· Carry out regulatory compliance/enforcement duties derived from appointment by the President/CEO of the NSLC as an "Inspector" under the N.S. Liquor Control Act, for regulatory compliance/enforcement responsibility as it applies to alcohol, its importation, production, agents, representatives, and private alcohol outlets

· Develop strong relationships across other functional leadership and represent Corporate Security at the Senior Accountability Council

· Develop, manage, and monitor the annual capital and operating budgets for all NSLC relevant Corporate Security/Loss Prevention risk management projects and services

· Liaise with NSLC staff and applicable stakeholders including government agencies and provincial liquor jurisdictions to share information and develop best practices

· Serve on the NSLC JOHSC (Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee) as well as the NSLC Store Development and Planning Committee providing advisory services

· Represent NSLC in the Provincial Emergency Measures Organization as the designated DEPO (Departmental Emergency Preparedness Officer)

· Demonstrate commitment to the NSLC's KORE Values and Social Responsibility Mandate

· Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety

· Perform other related duties as assigned

What you'll need

Qualifications

Required

· A bachelor's degree, criminal justice or security management/business degree is preferred

· Minimum 7 years' of increasingly responsible experience in law enforcement/security management including a minimum 5 years' management experience

Preferred

· Senior level experience in law enforcement and/or loss prevention in a large retail and/or wholesale environment
