STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING
The Strategic Communications & Marketing Office (SCM) plays a significant role in supporting the university's strategic vision, direction, and mission. It is a bi-campus team responsible for advancing and elevating UNB's reputation through insight-focused and performance-driven brand leadership, communications, marketing, public relations, creative services, media relations and issues management.

Salary Range: $58, 098 - $79,182 per annum (as of July 1st, 2024)

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Digital Manager, the Digital Specialist creates engaging digital media and content, contributing to UNB's institutional social media accounts, as well as providing advice, guidance, training, and support to faculties and units in support of the university's communication and marketing strategy, initiatives, and overall online presence.

  • Develop engaging, compelling and authentic digital content as well as thought leadership on digital marketing best practices and trends.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders from Integrated Health Initiative (IHI) and well as the Faculty of Law to help elevate their stories and accomplish goals through Social Media.
  • Build and maintain relationships with select faculties, programs and units.
  • Coordinate digital media production efforts in collaboration with creative services and communications teams to help advance priorities.
  • Lead student content creators to help them develop their marketing skills.
  • Review content performance, plan future posts and feature key student experiences.
  • Provide mentorship to the Digital Coordinator and provide support to new staff.
  • Advise on workload balancing and make recommendations on how the digital team can best utilize each person to seamlessly meet the strategic goals of the institution.
  • Identify opportunities for UNB to engage online and monitor online conversations about UNB.
  • Provide support to the Communications team through thought leadership on how to manage online crisis situations.
  • Maintain regular communication with key collaborative groups.
  • Manage a bi-weekly meeting with a team of marketing and communications coordinators and specialists.
  • Provides support in identifying content for UNB.ca and SharePoint.
  • Research and analyze digital marketing best practices and trends to identify opportunities for future development and updates.
  • Identify gaps in content and conduct internal research to understand how to better feature and support the MAC (Marketing and Communications) group within UNB.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post-secondary degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business or social sciences.
  • 3 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, graphic design or digital media production is required.

Additional Strengths

  • Skills and experience in graphic design and digital media production is an asset.
  • Experience supporting measurable institutional social media strategies and campaigns.
  • Recent experience and certified training with all major social media platforms (Facebook, lnstagram, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok).
  • Web writing and editing skills.
  • Experience supporting video production and other digital media.
  • Experience with social relationship management software.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google ad words, the Adobe Suite and online advertising would be an asset.
  • Excellent relationship-building, diplomacy and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, adapt, and deliver high-quality work under pressure.
