The Opportunity
The Chapman Group is assisting their client, Fredericton Playhouse Inc in finding their next Development Manager to join their team. Fredericton Playhouse Inc. is a charitable non-profit organization that manages and develops a 709-seat performance venue.
Reporting to the Director of Growth and Development, the Development Manager position is a creative and relationship-driven force. The successful candidate will have a depth of experience in developing and managing relationships, crafting communications, using and analyzing data, and managing fundraising activities. They will have a well-developed understanding of philanthropy/fundraising principles and contemporary practices. They will enjoy the challenge of developing support for the Fredericton Playhouse and will have an appreciation of the public value of the performing arts (e.g., music, theatre, dance, etc.).
What you'll do
Responsibilities
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of available funding opportunities from governments, foundations, and corporate philanthropy programs through ongoing research and communications.
- Evaluate funding programs and recommend application targets
- Write applications to selected funders for eligible projects and operations.
- Correspond with funding partners
- Collaborate with communications staff, ensuring that marketing and communications efforts recognize funding partners' contributions to projects and operations.
- Write/file interim and final reports to funders for grants
- Execute a sponsorship program related to Playhouse programs
- Develop and maintain connections with the local business community
- Work in collaboration with other staff to identify and solicit potential sponsorships
- Develop, manage and deliver sponsor benefits
- Execute agreements and maintain correspondence
- Manage an annual giving/donor campaign
- Collaborate on the management and execution of other major campaigns (i.e., capital campaigns)
- Collaborate with Ticketing Operations staff on campaign configurations, gift documentation, correspondence, and tax receipt production within the ticketing CRM system
- Pull data lists, etc, from the ticketing CRM system for use in direct communications with donors and prospects
- Analyze data from the ticketing CRM system and other sources as it relates to donors and provide reports as required
- Develop relationships with donors (stewardship) and manage the delivery of donor benefits (listings, privileges, newsletters, etc.)
- Plan and execute fundraising events
- Other duties as may be prescribed by the Director of Growth and Development
What you'll need
Qualifications
- University degree in Business, Marketing or equivalent
- Excellent organizational, time management, and work planning skills
- Excellent relationship building skills
- Superior writing and presentation skills
- Research skills
- Good understanding and appreciation of the public value of the performing arts
- Computer skills (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Internet, PowerPoint, enterprise software)
- Ability to collaborate with other team members in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
The starting salary range for this position will be between $56,144 and $72,987 annually and will be based on the successful candidate's experience and training.
