Reporting to the Manager, Brand Strategy, the Design Specialist is responsible for the design of employee and customer communications to create meaningful brand experiences for employee and customer engagement. This position works in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, to create integrated content and communication in line with the integrity of the NSLC brand and supporting business objectives. The Design Specialist will report directly to the Manager, Brand Strategy and connect with the Customer Strategy and Communications Teams on customer and employee communication collateral.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a steward of our brand and works to ensure brand guidelines are current, understood and adhered to internally and externally
  • Responsible for ensuring consistent application of NSLC brand assets, including logo usage and placement.
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining all design assets and photography in the Digital Asset Management System (DAM) with our print partner
  • Works collaboratively with Business Units and project leads to ensure insightful creative leadership
  • Develops strategic creative concepts for customer communication, employee communication, employee recognition, events and category initiatives
  • Works with Customer Strategy team on event materials, which inherently includes CSR communication
  • Works with Communications team on employee communication collateral including the design and layout of the quarterly employee newsletter
  • Provides advice, oversight and design guidance on the development of all employee recognition and awards materials
  • Coordinates with external partners to support on key program initiatives, as required
  • Provide copywriting and editing expertise for projects, as necessary
  • Delivers creative concepts on time and on budget

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Provides digital assets for use on internal and external communication channels
  • Build relationships with external partners and suppliers
  • Liaises with the Agency of Record (AOR) to ensure integrity of NSLC brand and strategy
  • Monitor current innovations in advertising mediums and channels
  • Demonstrate commitment to the NSLC's KORE Values and social responsibility mandate
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Performs other related duties as assigned; including some travel, primarily within Nova Scotia

What you'll need

Qualifications

As a qualified candidate, you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree in design or a related discipline
  • 5-7 years' experience in design capacity at an advertising/marketing agency
  • Digital design experience

As the ideal candidate, you will also have:

  • Experience working as an in-house designer
  • Copywriting experience
  • Photography and video experience and/or education

An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.
