Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering consists of five Departments delivering seven undergraduate programs in: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Software Engineering, all accredited by Engineers Canada. It also delivers a Diploma in TME and Bachelors in Geomatics. The Faculty delivers graduate programs at the masters and doctoral levels within each Department and a Masters of Engineering in TME. The Faculty of Engineering is also very actively engaged in research that is sponsored by external granting agencies and industrial contracts. The Faculty is located on the Fredericton campus within the Head Hall Complex and Enterprise 1, 2 and 3 buildings.

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $20.62 - $24.42 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Dean of Engineering, the Dean's Office Assistant provides close administrative support to the Dean and Associate Deans of Engineering in managing the long-term and short-term projects of importance within the faculty.

  • Act as the first point of contact for the Dean of Engineering and administrative staff.
  • Greet and direct students, staff, faculty and the general public and answer inquiries by telephone and email.
  • Communicate pertinent information to the UNB engineering community using group mail listservs.
  • Assist the Dean and Associate Deans by scheduling meetings, and updating material for the faculty.
  • Maintain graduate student files including financial and academic documentation for the Faculty Graduate Academic Unit (GAU).
  • Provide direction and support to graduate students with payroll and required documentation for the Faculty Graduate Academic Unit (GAU).
  • Assist with student financial services and provide students with information on program timelines and requirements.
  • Follow up on email inquiries regarding program overviews and financial matters.
  • Assist the Administrative Secretary and Administrative Assistant with office filing, copying, room bookings and arranging meetings.
  • Provide copying and room bookings for ENGG course instructors.
  • Assist with Faculty social events, including scheduling, booking rooms, and other duties as needed.
  • Assist on special projects when required. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post Secondary Education in a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related field.

Additional Strengths

  • Experience using Colleague is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize work.
