Atlantic Lottery (AL) is seeking a Data Analyst. Location is flexible within Atlantic Canada with occasional travel to Moncton, NB. 

As our Data Analyst you will conduct operational reporting and analysis including quantitative, statistical, financial, variance, predictive modeling, trending (including market and customer) and issue identification. You will support Business Intelligence (BI) disciplines throughout the organization and provide operational analytics as key inputs to the business and strategic planning process. You will also provide business process design, documentation and monitoring (includes: identification of information, systems, tools and reports required to manage business processes).

What you'll do

Responsibilities

The position will include standardized routine tasks, including operational reporting and analysis according to business objectives. This will include comprehensive analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as well as dashboards to provide a coherent view of the business and the identification of cost and revenue drivers. Moreover, actively working with business units to ensure business performance frameworks are understood.

The data analyst will be required to maintain ongoing evaluation and review of KPIs and dashboards to ensure they are optimized to support business decision-making. Moreover, the analyst will actively detect problems and perform "what if" analysis to ensure achievement of divisional and corporate objectives.

Provide operational analytics as key inputs to the business and strategic planning process. This would include analysis that would enable AL to set and achieve organizational targets related to financial, player, internal processes, and colleagues' effective key result areas.

Support BI disciplines throughout the organization, as defined by management. Working with various sections of the business and the business process analyst to ensure that reporting and analytic standards are understood and adhered to. Establish processes and procedures to ensure quality in all reporting disseminated by the BI team.

As the BI team evolves, analytics and related tasks will adapt accordingly as we improve access to data, expand reporting capabilities, increase skill level etc.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional experience, ideally in a similar role.
  • Post-secondary education with a strong analytical component, e.g. statistics, business, social sciences, sciences.
  • Experience working with Relational Databases including SQL.
  • Experience with Python, R or similar language for data analysis.
  • Experience working with Alteryx
  • Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Experience applying statistical methodologies to test design, measurement, and analysis.
  • Experience with web analytics software (Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Must be 19 years of age or older to apply.

Professional Skills:

  • Excellent communicator with an ability to clearly explain complex technical subjects to a variety of stakeholders;
  • Ability to clean and dive into messy data to find insights;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office product suite;
  • Resourceful and self-reliant; a strong self-starter with a passion for learning;
  • Ability to translate data analysis into stories, insights and recommendations;
  • Knowledgeable about best practices around data manipulation, extracting data from big data systems, feature engineering and creating dashboards and;
  • Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, prioritize and competently handle a variety of activities with a high degree of accuracy in a fast paced, customer-driven environment.
